I believe art is synonymous with life. My goal is to stimulate awareness that art is not only fun, but it provides us with a deeper understanding of our emotions, self-awareness, and how to communicate with others. I am passionate about art, and I remember personally as a child, art was my voice. I was extremely shy and quiet, but anytime I held some form of art material in my hand, I felt alive and I had something to convey through the art I created. Fast forward to being an adult- I still feel the same way (except I’m no longer shy and quiet)! I’m a “military brat” which afforded me the opportunity to learn how to embrace and establish an appreciation for people from all walks of life; seeing past color, gender, and socio-economic backgrounds. At a young age, I chose to approach life with a “glass half-full" mindset, because I was raised by parents that endured and overcame hardships such as racial prejudice and segregation. Determined to provide a better life for me and my siblings, my father proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. We moved alot! To this day, I still love to travel. I’ve lived in Europe, visited over 5 countries, and has toured over 15 states throughout the USA.
I take pride in creating personalized works of art made to my clientele’s specifications. I also love teaching art; knowing that artwork enriches my students lives by creating a sense of empowerment and confidence for them brings me great joy and complete fulfillment. I possess strong interpersonal skills with extensive experience and years of working with many children and adults from diverse demographic backgrounds. To excel in my craft, I invested in myself by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Studio from UC Santa Barbara, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from University of LaVerne.
Art is my first love, but I fell in love with the sport of rowing as an inexperienced 17 year old college student. Being a former collegiate athlete in the sport of rowing, I exceled and advanced to become the first African-American Head Coach at UC Santa Barbara for the Women’s Novice Rowing intercollegiate athletic program. Present day- you will find me chasing the early sunrises as I take strokes down the serene waters of Newport Harbor in Southern CA.
My greatest strength comes from my faith in God, and the support and love from my family and friends.
